I was at my Mom's the other day, and we found a sheet of paper with a picture of Isaac and a story, likely for one of Adam's school project. It told of all of the kind things Adam did when Isaac was a baby to care for his younger brother. I remember so much of when Isaac was young, but no one remembered how Adam used to get up in the mornings with Isaac and play with him, or read him stories, or many other cute kindnesses.
When I see my children serve one another, I feel as though I'll never forget, but I guess families do, so here are the things I never want to forget, presently.
Seth is beautiful! He is a skinny little boy, who scoots everywhere, he has a cry like a ring wraith, and the face of an angel! /his dimples are so cute, and everyone is mesmerized by his eyes! He looks into your eyes with this look that seems to look into your soul, and his looks have always been this penetrating. It's so special to have this level of communication with a little baby! Seth is a great eater, he thinks Christina is hilarious, and he's learning to throw a ball, scoot over to catch it where it falls, and throw it again.
Mariah LOVES Seth! Since he was born she would always giggle, and love everything he does! Besides the few times she knocks him over, and runs to hide out of guilt, she is always sweet and loves to talk to him. She will giggle when he looks at her and says in an even-higher-than-her-regular-high voice, "Awww! Seff must be cute!"
Mariah LOVES fruit! If I have a box of berries in the fridge, it;s as gone as soon as she discovers them, she'll eat at least three apples a day! If I have half a melon in the fridge, she'll take it out and I'll find it with bite marks all around the outside!
Mariah loves to hold my face and always uses her manners. She takes good care of her family and loves to help making supper.
Christina is really lovely, she is a great host to company, a hard worker, an excellent bedroom cleaner - when she puts her mind to it, a sharer and giver of so much that is hers. She has a beautiful testimony, and great faith. She prays for her friend at school who's blind, she's borne her testimony in church, she'll tell anyone she goes to church, and ask about when they go to church. She'll befriend anybody, and loves the feeling of kindness. She glows!
Jonah is sooo smart, sooo passionate about the things he loves, sooo in love with his little brother! We put Seth to bed before Jonah, and Jona will creep into his room, get Seth, bring him into his bed and scratch his head and shush into his ear, and cuddle him to sleep. Then we will go in and put Seth in his crib, and when Seth wakes up in the morning, Jonah will do the same routine, until Seth seems hungry, then he'll bring him to me to feed him. Jonah loves a series we have called "How the Universe was made, it is phenomenal, and this morning I told him that Abraham and Moses have seen all of Heavenly Father's creations, and his reaction was "What!??! NO fair! I want to see all of that! Hey! How did they breathe in Space? Did Jesus change their bodies so they could breathe in Space?"
Justin and I are happy! I don't think there's ever anyone else he wants to spend his time with. He loves to sit with me and chat with me, and work in the kitchen with me, and when I go for drives with him to do errands with him. We've always loved to be together!
Postpartum is hard! I'm trying to look at this with an eternal perspective, and It gives us a more tolerable view of the illness during pregnancy and the illness that follows pregnancy. Not only for us but our children. I'm just trying to have faith that there's a greater plan, and my children will spiritually benefit through these experiences.
I'm feeling restless, I'm wondering if I won't end up kicking myself for not living in Europe for a year or flipping a house, because I live in a pretty dreamy place - lots of water, privacy, space, warmth, lots of wood and river to explore. Are we not jumping into an experience that will make us grow, because it's too easy and comfortable here?
